FOR: This class is for adults.
1. Saturday July 29th @ 11am (2 hours)
Drawing real life dragons. Spend the class sketching and drawing live lizards and examining the scales, claws and general anatomy of them. Draw some realistically and draw some using a style of preference that makes them look magical.
2. Saturday August 5th @ 11am (2 hours)
Remembering what we did last week- this class will be focussed on drawing magical dragons that we can turn into 3D clay creatures next week. Think about what colours you'd like to make it. Will it be a particular species of dragon? Big and scary or cute and small? By the end of this class, participants should have mostly settled on the kind of dragon they'd like to create.
3. Saturday August 12th @ 11am (2 hours)
This week we make a practice baby dragon! So that everyone gets practice at using polymer clay, we will make a small baby version of the big dragon they will be making in the next class. Use this class to get used to mixing clays and using clay tools. There should be time for these dragons to be baked in this class too so they have something to take home with them. Participants will have the option to paint the dragons in this class too.
4. Saturday August 19th @ 11am (2 hours)
This class we begin making the wire frame for our bigger adult dragon. Remember to look at your sketches! Make sure to reinforce the wire so that it is solid and then begin using tin foil to create a 3D 'skeleton'. Participants are welcome to create a base for the dragon too or bring in extra glass bits and bobs (like D20 dice, marbles or glass stones) for decoration. I will provide glass eyes (4mm) for larger dragons.
5. Saturday August 26th @ 11am (2 hours)
We begin forming the dragon's skins this class. Using polymer clay in colours mixed by the participants they will use the skeletons they've created to fully form the body. Body bases should be part baked after completion and tidied up using nail polish remover and Q-tips if needed.
6. Saturday September 2nd @ 11am (2 hours)
Decoration time! This class you can add in all the little details that will make your dragons unique- extra scales, spines, gradients with chalk pastels, painted details (although the latter two are for after baking).
*All art materials are included in your booking.
** 3 student minimum per class.
